Led by Fenella Ryan, Non Applicables is a collaborative organisation consisting of non-dance, non-theatre, non-performance art, which encompasses everything in between. You can often stumble across their work in clubs, warehouses, pubs, working men's clubs, food halls and festival fields among other suspicious places. As a reaction to their rigid contemporary dance training, they started investigating other ways of expressing themselves which didn't involve rolling around on the floor or pretending to be a tree. (Although they do also do this sometimes). Their performances are a melange of dance, text, comedy and at times food, blurring lines of performance and a brawl. They create work that touches on and pokes fun at contemporary culture in the UK in a funny and straight talking way. ‘In other words, from Hull to hell with Fenella Ryan and Non Applicables’ - Donald Hutera WANA KNOW MORE? |
